Disability Information Provision (Level 4)
The National Certificate in Community Support Services (Disability Information Provision) (Level 4) is designed for people already working in the health and disability sector as Disability Information Consultants or equivalent, and/or those wishing to pursue a career within the sector.
Holders of this qualification will be able to demonstrate knowledge of supporting people with special needs, suspected abuse of people using health or disability services, culturally safe operating principles, Maori and Pacific values, self-advocacy, disability and aging in local and international contexts, the value of relationships in peopleís lives for disability support, the impact on family/whanau when a member has a disability, and ethical behaviour in a health, disability, or community setting.
People awarded this qualification are able to provide information on disability legislation, specific conditions, transport, education, finance, employment, social and recreational activities; and advice and support that empowers individuals and promotes choice.
Some unit standards within this national qualification are found in other Careerforce developed and supported national qualifications. Trainees are not required to repeat unit standards for which they already have credit.
Careerforce has contracted The New Zealand Federation of Disability Information Centres to coordinate the delivery of this qualification. The contract includes running education sessions and undertaking all of the assessments.
Completion Timeframe
This qualification consists of 69 credits with a timeframe of 16 months to complete.
Cost
The qualification fee is $1800 (GST inclusive).
Included in this price is entry of the trainee into the NZQA system and related credit registration costs plus a certificate and a badge. Printed resources are not included in this price.
