On-the-job training at work
Each year Careerforce supports thousands of people employed in the health and disability sector to achieve nationally recognised NZQA qualifications.
For employees, Careerforce-supported training can:
- Help you achieve relevant and nationally recognised qualifications
- Recognise your existing skills and knowledge
- Be the first step on a career pathway in the health and disability sector
- Provide clarity over your roles and responsibilities
- Help show clients, employers and future employees that you are qualified to provide the best possible support.
Getting started
To be eligible for Careerforce-supported training you need to have a current New Zealand work contract with a health and disability sector workplace. This means you must:
- Have a New Zealand employment contract
- Or be a volunteer/ unpaid worker with a work contract.
Many of Careerforce's qualifications directly relate to your workplace's policies and procedures, so it is important your workplace is happy for you to undertake Careerforce-supported training.
If you are interested in undertaking on-the-job training towards national qualifications, talk to your supervisor or employer.
What qualifications can I do?
Careerforce has developed a wide range of qualifications and training pathways. These include qualifications for those working in the disability, aged care residential, home and community support, and mental health and addiction sectors. We are also developing future qualifications for roles such as health care assistants, orderlies, ane public health workers.
