IRIS Graduation Evening |

| On Tuesday 10 November, 40 IRIS team members graduated with their Level 2 National Certificate in Community Support Services. This event was attended by a large number of family and friends, along with some special guests who spoke and presented the awards. Congratulations to the IRIS team members who put in an extraordinary amount of work and showed commitment to completing this qualification. A large number of these people have now enrolled in Level 3 and some have already started this qualification. Louise Hawkins from Careerforce, the project manager for Integrated Workplace Learning, flew up from Christchurch to attend the evening. She developed and oversaw this training programme for IRIS. Many of the trainees had no previous qualifcation and English as a second language. Careerforce workplace advisor Denise Mackres presented the awards to the IRIS Support team members. And, Janet Coup who has been involved with this programme and supported Joanne, presented the awards to the IRIS Community Living team members. A special thank you to Joanne Jones from the IRIS Training Department for all her hard work, to Jule Martin, IRIS Service Development Manager who was the MC for the evening. It was amazing to see everyone in their beautiful and colourful clothing that reflected their culture. |
Nurse Maude Celebrates Success |

| Nurse Maude held a special graduation on 9th October to celebrate the achievement of Careerforce’s Level 2 Foundation Skills National Certificate. Nurse Maude has worked alongside Careerforce to provide their support workers with a nationally recognised qualification, and have teamed up with Careerforce as part of the integrated workplace learning project to help address the literacy, language, numeracy and learning needs of their staff. Nurse Maude holds graduation ceremonies such as this one in recognition of the importance of training to the successful delivery of support in the community. As part of recognising the importance of training Nurse Maude also pays staff while they attend training, and staff also receive a pay increase once they graduate. |
Gracelands Staff Graduation Largest In Waikato Disability Sector |

| Thirty-three support workers from Gracelands Group of Services received their Level 3 Core Competencies national certificates in October, in a ceremony attended by a large group of family, friends, co-workers and invited guests. Gracelands continues to promote professional development and is enrolling several staff in the Disability Support, Assessment, Planning and Coordination Level 5 Certificate with Careerforce. |

Counties Manukau Home Care |

Wairarapa DHB Homelinks |
| The Wairarapa District Health Board Homelinks graduation took place in Masterton on August 7 2009. Everyone at the DHB who provides short term care now has the Foundation Skills qualifcation. The successful support workers have now been given the chance to do the Level 3 Core Competencies National Qualification and so far 11 support workers have taken up this opportunity. |

| TEC Embedded Literacy, Language & Numeracy National Project - Integrated Workplace Learning Kia Ora .... Bula ..... Namasti ...... Tolofa ...... Ram Ram ...... Malo ...... Hello A very moving Graduation was held on 27/2/09 for 25 graduates who completed the National Certificate in Community Support (Foundation) Level 2 qualification with their family (whanau .... pari vaar ..... matangali) with their family, friends and work colleagues. The graduates represent several South Pacific cultures and for most of them, English is their second language. For many this is the first time they have completed a qualification and this graduation clearly showed their pride and happiness in sharing it with their family and colleagues Management, trainers and coordinators of Pacific Island Trust have commented on noticeable improvement in confidence, quality client care and the reduction of risk management issues This is reflected in the monthly quality improvement reports.
