Epilepsy Care
The National Certificate and National Diploma in Epilepsy Care have been designed to be delivered by accredited education providers. For a list of accredited education providers for these qualifications, click here.
National Certificate in Community Support (Epilepsy Care) (Level 5)
This qualification is designed for people who specialise in providing support for people with epilepsy.
This qualification is designed as the basic services provision qualification for staff of Epilepsy NZ. It may also be of value for people working in family homes, schools and institutions where people with epilepsy attend, live or work.
Holders of this qualification have demonstrated the skills and knowledge to be able to establish and maintain working relationships with people who use the services of the Epilepsy NZ, with schools and other health, welfare, social, community organisations and groups. With limited professional and managerial supervision holders of this qualification will be able to work as Certificated Field Officers for Epilepsy NZ.
This qualification contains common unit standards with, and leads on to, the National Diploma in Community Support (Epilepsy Care).

National Diploma in Community Support (Epilepsy Care) (Level 6)
This 137 credit qualification is designed for people who specialise in providing support for people with epilepsy.
People awarded this national diploma will have attained the level of competence required of them by Epilepsy NZ to conduct all aspects of their professional duties as fully trained Registered Field Officers.
This diploma may be appropriate for people who are involved in working in situations where they have significant interaction with people who have needs for a range of support services for epilepsy and epilepsy related difficulties.
In addition to this support function, holders of this qualification are able to design coping strategies based on both pharmacological and non-pharmacological management and which are in accordance with historical and multicultural beliefs. They have the anatomical and physiological knowledge necessary to record and describe the medical history of clients.
This qualification contains common unit standards with, and leads on from, the National Certificate in Community Support (Epilepsy Care).
