Qualification Delivery
The New Zealand Federation of Disability Information Centres and Careerforce are working together to pilot the delivery of learning and assessment for this qualification.
Learning and Assessment
The pilot training programme design provides a range of learning opportunities including learning on the job, paced activities as appropriate; opportunities for group meetings and peer support, and facilitated sessions by the NZFDIC.
Learning Resources
Resources which contain learning material and activities are currently being developed for each unit standard. The learning covers most of the material required to understand the unit standard competencies. Workplaces are required to provide their trainees with copies of some of their policies and procedures to make the learning specific to the organisation. The NZFDIC will assist workplaces to identify the required policies and procedures. The NZFDIC is supporting the learning through its regional meetings, and is providing training opportunities nationally.
Assessment Resources
The NZFDIC has developed assessment schedules in conjunction with Careerforce and these schedules, together with the learning resources, will be sent to trainees following receipt of a signed training agreement and payment.
Assessment
The assessment activities include knowledge-based tasks and workplace verification tasks. Together these tasks confirm a trainee’s competency in practical tasks, underpinning knowledge, understanding of policies and procedures, and application of learning to the job.
Each trainee in the pilot will be allocated an assessment programme and notified of who will be assessing their work. The majority of assessment will be via portfolios, with at least one workplace visit. The workplace will collect evidence and information to help inform the assessment outcomes.
Results for successful trainees are submitted to Careerforce for the completed unit standards to be recorded against each trainee’s record of learning (ROL).
Cost
The cost of the qualification is $800.00 (incl. GST) per trainee. This cost includes the learning and assessment resources, the majority of assessment resources, registering credits on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and the Certificate. Trainees will be hooked on to the NQF and provided with a student number.
