Programme learning and assessment overview

The programme will be assessed in three integrated assessments. There are two core integrated assessments that need to be completed. Trainees then complete one integrated assessment for an area of focus related to the department they belong to. Each assessment has an associated learning resource.

The assessments are open-book assessments. Trainees can refer to the learning resources, the relevant organisational policies and procedures, and their own research for answers. Trainees are expected to answer the assessment questions in their own words. They are required to submit their assessment book periodically to their assessor for marking.

The programme includes developing and/or recognising the following core competencies in your staff:

  • Demonstrate professional and ethical behaviour.
  • Demonstrate and apply a person-centred approach to supporting patients.
  • Observe and respond to changes in a patient.
  • Provide support to patients from different cultures.
  • Comply with your internal infection control procedures.
  • Manage challenging behaviour according to your organisation’s policies and procedures.
  • Overcome barriers to communication.

The areas of focus include:

  • Acute Care
  • Clinics
  • Mental Health
  • Maternity
