Papatoetoe Adolescent Christian Trust has been working with young people in the local schools and community for nearly 30 years. Our vision is to support rangatahi to soar. We are a unique faith based youth organisation as we work with at risk young people from 6 through to 18 both in 8 South Auckland schools and in our own programmes that we run from our community building located at 311 Great South Road, Papatoetoe. We are committed to ongoing personal and professional development and providing a fun and supportive workplace.

Job Description

About the role - Youth and Family Worker

You will be helping to pioneer a new programme that will work with a small group of rangatahi both in the school setting and outside and it will include building relationship and providing some support to their whānau. The programme will include a camp experience, dedicated to enhancing the holistic well-being of these rangatahi, encompassing their emotional and spiritual health, and incorporating tikanga. We will collaborate with other organisations to shape this programme and it provides an exciting opportunity to infuse your life and professional experiences into its development.

 

To be successful in this role you will have

  • Youth work or social work qualification and/or relevant youth work experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to establish trust and rapport with young people and whānau.
  • An understanding of te ao Maori principles (e.g. te reo and tikanga) and a willingness to learn more in this area.
  • The ability work across diverse cultures and develop strong community networks.
  • The maturity to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • A full driver’s license.
  • Alignment with PACT's values.

 

More details

This is a full-time role however for the right person flexibility to work 25-35 hours would be considered.

The role will start in late January 2024.
