Due to significant growth in Live Life Disability Support Services, we are offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team reporting to the Group Manager Residential and Vocational. This Group Leader role will strengthen our services across the Nelson region and support both our Residential and Vocational teams along with our Learning and Development Trainer. The successful applicant will work alongside our team to facilitate greater choice and control for the people we support, and their natural networks. You will have excellent communication skills, work-based practice and will be able to work effectively within multi-disciplinary and cross agency teams. Our services are delivered following the Social Model where we believe that changes in society remove barriers for everyone. We have embedded in our practices the Principles of Enabling Good Lives, Active Support, Quality Improvement, Positive Behaviour Support, Learning and Development, and Health and Safety. It will be necessary to have a good understanding of current trends, acts, conventions and models of disability service delivery. Acknowledgement, inclusiveness and great communication with the people we support, families and whānau is the key to building partnerships. This is a permanent, full-time position, working 80 hours a fortnight. Usual days of work will be Monday to Friday, 7:30AM to 4PM, with the flexibility to work outside of these hours to meet service needs.

  • You will hold a NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level four) Advanced Support, or an equivalent health or disability related qualification as assessed by the Ministry of Health (see link below). Preferred candidates will ideally hold a Level five Diploma or above, or be working towards Level five or above in Human Services or equivalent.
  • You will also have a sound knowledge of Person Centred support as well as good time management skills. Experience working in the field of disability is advantageous.

  • For the health and safety of staff and patients all NMH staff are required to be vaccinated in accordance with the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021, including boosters.
