He kōrero mō te tūranga | The Role

Providing support from within our Emergency Housing service, this role is focused on housing and connecting whānau with the community. You will be focused on guiding tenants through the Ministry of Social Development system, health and education services where required, to enable whānau to reconnect by using your community connections to become involved in the wider community. The service delivery side of this role will require you to work and coordinate with your colleagues in tandem to support whānau through their journey, providing a safe environment and supporting them with their goals and daily tasks. We have three permanent, full-time Navigator positions available. The role is based in East Auckland; however, you will provide cover to all areas of Auckland. Hours of work are between the hours of 8.00am - 8.00pm, Monday to Friday.

We are looking for someone who is positive, flexible, vibrant, confident and passionate about working in our service. You will enjoy working creatively, autonomously and work effectively in an interdisciplinary team being able to communicate easily with a variety of people. You will need to think on your feet, remain calm under pressure and really encourage our clients along their journey. You'll naturally be a problem solver, quick thinker and enjoy connecting with the community. You'll use your non-judgemental attitude and belief to encourage clients to change and grow. You also need:

• It's desirable that you'll have a level 4 or 5 qualification in Mental Health and Addiction or Social Services
• Previous experience working within emergency housing in a similar role
• Knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act 1986 will be advantageous
• Proven relationship management skills and experience
• It's essential that you have a full New Zealand driving licence
• Strong computer skills, a 'can-do' attitude and be able to demonstrate strong personal and professional boundaries.
