Job Description

He kōrero mō te tūranga | The Role

Provide support from within our Emergency Housing service by focusing on housing and connecting whānau within the community. You will be guiding tenants through the Ministry of Social Development system, and health and education services.

Ideally, you will have experience working within the mental health sector and be linked with agencies throughout the community to support whānau for the best outcome possible.

There are 2 permanent full-time positions available, working Monday to Friday.

Duties of the role include:

  • Coordinating with your colleagues to support whānau through their journey and achieve their goals
  • Supporting whānau with their goals and daily tasks
  • Liaising and researching other appropriate organisations in the community
  • Conducting and writing assessments and support letters
  • Responding to urgent matters and ensuring safety concerns are addressed
  • Providing support at meetings

  • It's desirable that you'll have a level 4 or 5 qualification in Mental Health and Addiction or Social Services
  • Be culturally responsive and non-judgemental
  • See the potential in people from all walks of life and help them thrive in a challenging and ever-changing environment
  • Can easily build professional relationships with people
  • Resilience, with strong personal and professional boundaries
  • A decisive and confident approach to many challenges you will face
  • Able to liaise and build robust relationships with whānau, services, and external agencies
  • Can work to deadlines, multi-task, and prioritize your workload
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • A full New Zealand Driver's License
