Job Description

He kōrero mō te tūranga - The role

As a Mental Health Professional, you'll provide wrap-around support to rangatahi in a hands-on capacity in a service that has a whanau orientated framework.

This is a varied role, and your day-to-day duties will depend on the number of rangatahi in the service. This role with have you integrating your clinical expertise, knowledge and competencies alongside recovery approaches to provide quality services to rangatahi and their family/whānau.

You will support rangatahi to work towards their personal goals and aspirations by using evidence based clinical interventions, professional skills, coaching and supporting other team members, working alongside and supervising the service's peer support worker.

You will lead the provision of a robust day programme, including the use of sensory modulation and other therapeutic interventions. You will have a passion for seeing hope and seeking change in a young person's life.

He kōrero mōu - About you

As youth can potentially only be with us for two to three days at a time, you'll need to have the ability to build relationships quickly in a genuine manner and have a passion to see youth succeed. You'll also have an eye for spotting changes to behaviour and be able to respond appropriately to crisis situations.

You'll have a Current registration with a professional body covered by HPCA 2003 Act, Social Work Registration, or DAAPANZ, as well as preferably at least two year post qualifying experience within the Mental Health/AO sectors. The ability to demonstrate knowledge and experience with creating personalised plans is a must for this role!

You'll contribute to maintaining a safe working environment and create safe, calm, and nurturing spaces for whānau. You'll encourage whānau to engage in therapy, meaningful programmes, and educational/vocational activities. Communication skills and a strong cultural competency are vital for this role.
