About the Role

The purpose of this role is to offer specialised care to assist patients with mental illnesses. You will be responsible for the coordination of safe quality nursing care for all patients, and to offer specialised assessments to initiate intervention strategies to assess and manage patients with an illness.

About You

As an experienced mental health nurse, you have the ability to work independently and with a team to provide nonjudgmental support for your patients. You should be reliable, compassionate, resilient and open-minded with a 'can-do' approach. You should also be skilled with problem-solving strategies and time management.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse in NZ
• Current APC (Annual Practicing Certificate)

Education

• Bachelor of nursing
• Post graduate qualification completed or in progress is preferred
• An individual who is committed to on-going professional training and development to ensure that your skills and knowledge are maintained at the appropriate level

Experience

• More than 2 years clinical experience in a primary health or acute setting
• Primary Health/Emergency Department experience
• Understanding of common Mental Health concerns for patients
• Understanding of different cultural, religious and ethnic needs of patients
• Understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi, its principles and related contemporary issues
