Our residential service is based in West Auckland, consists of five beds, and provides support for wahine/female tangata whaiora who are faced with dual disabilities challenges. We provide an environment for tangata whaiora where they can enjoy a good quality of life and live in a place that feels like home, one that upholds personal dignity, independence and respects their privacy.

Job Description

He kōrero mō te tūranga - The role

We provide 24-hour support at the level necessary for people to have a safe and satisfying home life. The ideal candidate will be respectful of people's individuality, sensitive and supportive of their aspirations, well-being and needs; foster good relationships to maximise inclusion and participation in the community and be confident in carrying out activities of daily living. This role also involves personal cares for female clients.

Staff work to foster hope, identify strengths and develop resilience, recognising that these are key components to the approach taken to support clients and their family/whanau with their recovery. Ideal candidates will bring a flexible approach, people skills and be open to new learning as part of on-going professional development.

This role is for one permanent, full-time position and is rostered Monday - Sunday with shifts of 7am - 3.30pm, 3pm - 11.30pm and a sleep over of 11pm - 7.30am (a minimum of one shift during the weekend).

He kōrero mōu - About you:

  • Completed the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing - L4 or higher level of mental health support work (or equivalent), or completed Level 2 of the National Certificate in Health, Disability, and Aged Support
  • Post qualifying experience in the mental health or disability sector is an advantage
  • Demonstrated commitment to recovery values
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills
  • A 'can-do' attitude and be able to demonstrate strong personal and professional boundaries
  • Good communications skills to effectively communication with the people in the community, your manager, tangata whaiora and their whānau
  • Demonstrated commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi and culturally safe practice
  • A current full New Zealand driver's licence
