VisionWest Community Trust has been offering community-based services to people in West Auckland since the 1980’s. The Trust was formally incorporated as the Friendship Centre Trust in 1988 in response to a growing desire of the Glen Eden Baptist Church to help those in need in the local community. The Trust started out small with a drop-in center at the Glen Eden Railway Station as a place where friendships were formed. The Trust responded to the needs present in the community and grew to be one of the largest community-based Trusts in West Auckland. Today, Visionwest provides services to communities in Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Christchurch.

Visionwest Home Healthcare service provides quality, professional home help support to people, enabling them to live independently within their own homes. Job Description

Kia ora, we are seeking Support Workers who live in Bay of Plenty region to join us on a permanent basis   We are currently looking for caring, committed and empathetic people to provide quality in-home care to our clients. We provide support from 7.00 am to 9.30 pm, 7 days a week and offer variable hours. We are now introducing fixed-days shift: We are currently offering fixed days to suit your preferred work hours as well as our client's needs.
  • Shift 1: Tuesday to Saturday
  • Shift 2: Wednesday to Sunday
  • Shift 3: Sunday to Thursday
What is involved in the role of a Support Worker?
Our Support Workers are part of a dedicated and well-supported team, assisting our clients to live as independently as possible in their homes with a range of different tasks that include:
  • Personal care – assisting with showering, toileting, dressing etc
  • Medication oversight – prompting/supervising clients with medication
  • Mobility assistance – assisting client’s mobility with walking frames, hoists etc
  • Household tasks – cleaning, vacuuming, mopping, laundry etc
  • Meal Preparation - Preparing and cooking food
Dependent on each client's care plan. We enable clients to have the opportunity to succeed at the activities of daily living which promotes maintaining the client's quality of life and abilities. No knowledge or qualification to be a support worker? Experience and qualifications are not essential, but a certificate in Health & Wellbeing is advantageous. We have certified trainers who will provide adequate training to get your knowledge up to speed.

  • Ability to establish rapport with individual clients and relate to their families/whanau
  • Good health and fitness
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good time management
  • Reliable transport with a clean & current NZ driver's license
  • Mobile phone
You must have the right to work in New Zealand and you will be required to undergo police vetting and additional checks in order to be considered for this position.
