Job Description

PUBLIC HEALTH - HEALTH PROMOTION 

We are looking for an experienced Public Health Promoter who is looking for a career opportunity that is challenging and exciting.

The role

You will be joining a team committed to supporting whānau, hapū and iwi to determine and achieve wellbeing working throughout the rohe of Ngāti Whātua.

The role of the Māori Public Health Promoter is to effectively execute community level Public Health Advocacy and Promotion, particularly across the following areas:

  • Māori Public Health Leadership – strengthening public health action through leadership, innovation and whanaungatanga
  • Tobacco Harm Reduction – reducing harms and inequities associated to tobacco use
  • Alcohol & Other Drug Harm Reduction – reducing harms and inequities associated to alcohol and other drug use
  • Nutrition & Physical Activity – reducing inequities associated to poor nutrition and lack of physical activity.
  • Public Health Promotion – Coordination / participation of events to promote awareness and health education.

Within this position you will also work in collaboration with Hāpai Te Hauora, the largest Māori public health organisation in Aotearoa.  Hāpai Te Hauora Tapui Ltd has a tripartite ownership model comprising shareholders Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Whātua, Te Whānau o Waipereira Trust and Raukura Hauora o Tainui. 

To be considered for this role you must have experience working in Hauora and have obtained or are working towards a relevant qualification.

This position is a Maternity Leave fill in position and will be full-time until 30 June 2023 and then will move to a permanent part-time capacity from there on.
