Job Description

This role provides a supported transition for rangatahi from Oranga Tamariki care, that will help strengthen them on their journey into adulthood.

The Transition Worker will assist rangatahi in the development of skills and tools over time, with a focus on building and strengthening knowledge which can endure into their adult lives. A rangatahi-centred approach that empowers the increasing responsibility for themselves, is an essential aspect of the role.

This is a full-time position that will be mobile and based around the Auckland area. Access to a work car will be provided.

We are looking for a person who:

  • Has experience working with youth and young adults (age range 15 - 25 years) and an understanding of mental wellbeing;
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a small team;
  • Is motivated, focused and target driven and able to work unsupervised;
  • Has a track record of building strong relationships;
  • Good computer literacy;
  • Preparedness to actively engage in physical activity alongside clients.
  • Clean driver’s license and MSD / Police checks

And preferable you:

  • Have a good understanding of Te Ao Māori and
  • Knowledge of Tikanga Māori
