Emerge Aotearoa is a highly respected charitable trust that makes a difference in people’s lives. Keith House in Blockhouse Bay and Zeisler House in Mt Wellington both offer intensive residential rehabilitation services that can house up to six and eight Tangata Whaiora respectively. Our amazing Kaimahi work tirelessly to support, encourage and motivate our Tangata Whaiora to live their best life as independently as possible. We are close knit teams who come from an array of mental health disciplines, so there is a wealth of knowledge and experience for you to lean on and learn from.

Job Description

On a typical day

Your focus is our Tangata whaiora and what life skills you can equip them with - it could be a trip to their doctor, to the library or the local supermarket, meal preparation, housework such as cleaning or laundry, or making appropriate shopping decisions. If cooking is your passion you might roll up your sleeves and together whip up a batch of muffins, or over a cuppa and have a conversation about setting a tangible goal. There are day programs to run and updating client admin is a daily task. So if you love variety its all here for you. We have permanent and casual support worker roles available to work across the following shift patterns 7am - 3.30pm, 3pm -11.30pm and 11pm - 7.30am, Monday - Sunday.

Your experience

Ideally, you will have:
  • a National Mental Health Certificate Level 4/5 but it's not a deal breaker. If you have the passion and enthusiasm to work with our people towards recovery, however big or small, we will enrol you in the Level 4 Apprenticeship program. We will help you to become qualified whilst learning on the job (which also puts extra dollars in your pocket so a win win).
You will have the following:
  • Current New Zealand full driver's licence
  • The right to live and work in New Zealand
  • A calm, patient approach together with enthusiasm and passion in helping others live their best life
