Based in Keneperu, we have 3 x full-time role working Monday to Friday. You’ll be supporting clients with experience of mental health distress and/or alcohol and addiction issues.

In this role you’ll āwhi Whānau in the wider Wellington area , and work as part of a supportive team and manager who cares and wants to see you thrive in your role.

Job Description

He kōrero mō te tūranga - The role

You'll provide wrap-around support to Whānau in a hand-on capacity that sees you out in the community supporting people in real time to engage or re-engage them with their community and natural supports.

The key focus of this role will have you giving Whānau the tools and the confidence to support themselves - it's all about supporting them through a process not doing it for them.

A typical day will see you meeting with Whānau in their homes (or in a place that makes them feel comfortable) to conduct assessments, identify areas for referrals, and help set goals that will make a real difference to their lives such as housing, financial, education, or health etc.

You'll coordinate with individuals, families, Whānau and significant others, as well as external and internal services to provide wrap-around support, help them to achieve their goals, and provide support and advocacy during meetings.

You'll work to identify previous barriers that have prevented them accessing support in the past and help them to create systems to prevent this from happening again.

He kōrero mōu - About you

We're looking for people with amazing communication skills, the ability to build rapport, and a want to see the potential in people no matter their circumstances.

You'll hold a case load of Tāngata Whaiora for you to support through-out their wellbeing journey - because of this it's vital that you're able to work autonomously, have great time-management skills, and be comfortable sometimes working under pressure.

The people we support come from an array of backgrounds and circumstances so, you'll need to be empathetic, culturally responsive, and non-judgemental. Resilience and the ability to maintain strong personal and professional boundaries is a must for this role.

It's desirable that you'll have a level 4 or 5 qualification in Mental Health and Addiction or Social Services, however; if you have some experience supporting those who are vulnerable in our communities, then we'd still love to hear from you.
