The role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi
Join us to provide our tangata whaiora with a short-term respite during a crisis.  You’ll provide a supportive, safe and nurturing space and be comfortable working with people in distress. You’ll be working with a team of dedicated Support Workers in our 4 bed crisis respite service, and report to the Team Coach. 

This is a part-time role, working Thursday to Saturday from 3.00pm – 11.30pm. Based in Nelson.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Relevant administrative tasks, effective handover, and supporting and collaborating with your colleagues
  • Focusing on the individuals needs and providing culturally safe practice
  • Be prepared to do whatever it takes - cleaning, cooking or helping out with everyday tasks
  • Medication support
  • Sensory modulation
  • Liaising with other services and advocating for people

About You | Mōu
Everything you do supports a recovery focused approach. You’ll also

  • Hold a current full and clean New Zealand driver’s licence
  • Have current first aid certificate or be willing to obtain one
  • Hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing – level 4 (NZCHW) or a recognised equivalent or currently studying towards this.
  • Preferably you have completed the Peer Support training
  • Have impeccable attention to detail and be able to provide medication support
  • Ability to provide a calming, supportive environment for tangata whaiora experiencing mental health crisis
  • Ability to think creatively and be flexible to best support our tangata whaioraSupportive of team members, sharing knowledge and expertise to achieve the best health outcomes for tangata whaiora
  • Knowledge of local services would be beneficial
