Job Description

He kōrero mō te tūranga - The role
Our Activity and Living Skills service is contracted to cover the whole of the West Coast area. We have office bases in the Grey and Buller Districts, and this position would be required to be based in, and work from, our office located in Greymouth. You will join clients on their recovery journey, provide a safe environment for them and focus supports to help them achieve their daily tasks and identified goals. You need to note that the role is particularly demanding due to the amount of travel involved, the time we have to spend with clients, the requirement to be organised and in how you manage your time to make all this work and manage your wellbeing. However, the rewards are great as you can see people achieve their goals over time, become less dependent on paid supports, integrate back into their communities and pursue learning opportunities. Angela will be your manager and whilst not based in Greymouth is only ever a phone call away, and you'll have regular contact for support and to develop your skills as you grow within the role. This position's salary scale is set by pay equity and depending on your qualification level, pays between $22.10 and $27.43 per hour.

We have a great team and service who have been delivering quality services in the West Coast for over ten years and we are now looking for someone who is the right fit for this team. We need someone who is positive, resilient, vibrant, confident and a great team player. You'll naturally be a problem solver, quick thinker, autonomous and enjoy connecting with the community. You'll value supervision and the benefits of reflective practice, use your non-judgemental attitude and belief in the inherent strengths of individuals to encourage clients to change and grow. Applications from those who have a lived experience of mental health and drug and alcohol problems are particularly welcomed. This role would suit someone energetic looking to make a difference and motivate whānau to live their best life. To be successful in this role, it's desirable that you'll have a level 4 or 5 qualification in Mental Health and Addiction, however; if you're willing to work towards a qualification we'll provide you with support to achieve this. It's essential that you have a full New Zealand driving licence, Strong computer skills, a 'can-do' attitude and be able to demonstrate strong personal and professional boundaries.
