    He kōrero mō te tūranga | The Role

    Bring your full self to work as a Support Worker! You'll provide wrap-around support to our Whaiora and  Rangatahi which could be in a hands-on capacity in a service that has a whanau orientated framework.

    The role offers lots of variety, potential for growth, and great job satisfaction.  You'll walk alongside Tangata Whaiora and Rangatahi, providing support to help them create and achieve goals, realise their potential and achieve as much independence as possible.

    You'll help with a variety of things like accessing Planned Respite, Housing and Recovery services, prompting with medication and daily living activities.  Your support will also cover assisting our clients with meeting and maintaining tenancy standards, again assisting clients with their long-term journey to better independence.

    We have multiple casual positions available in the Hutt Valley region, working rostered shifts Monday through to Sunday. 

    Your duties will include but are not limited to:

    • Encourage and support Tangata Whaiora and Rangatahi connections with Whānau and provide support with appointments around mental and physical health.
    • Aid the Transition Process and walk alongside whānau as they learn to live as independently as possible within the community
    • Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
    • Support whānau to connect, maintain and build relationships with their own whānau, iwi and community
    • Ensure key documentation and handovers are accurately recorded.
    • Attend and contribute to team meetings, bringing ideas and updating others on their activities.

    We are looking for someone who is positive, flexible, vibrant, confident, and compassionate to work in our service. You'll use your non-judgemental attitude and belief to motivate and encourage whānau realise their potential. You'll have the ability to easily build professional relationships, while maintaining strong professional boundaries

    To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have the following:

    • Level 4 (or higher) qualification in Mental Health and Addiction or be working towards one.
    • Good level of computer skills to record notes and hand-over information.
    • Previous experience within the mental health and/or addiction sector
    • A Full New Zealand Driving License.
    • Flexibility in the hours you can work (with notice), as you will occasionally be required to work outside of your normal hours.
    • Experience of one-to-one support within the community is preferred but not essential.
    • Strong understanding of Māori and Pacifica cultures is preferred.
