Job Description

He kōrero mō te tūranga | The Role

We are looking for Casual support staff to cover our services that operate in Napier and Hastings. Your key focus will be supporting clients within our adult community support team and in Hastings working in our Youth respite home. We are looking for individuals with a can-do attitude.

In this role you'll create a safe, nurturing space for the people we support. You'll engage with them to identify daily tasks and longer-term goals while walking alongside the person as they work towards those goals.

As you will work across different services you will experience leadership from our different managers, however our managers have many years of experience, and we like to have an open and collaborative management style. 

Casual work consists of no guaranteed hours, however, is a great way to experience a variety of services and allows you to work flexibly and we aim to give a minimum of 24 hours' notice of any casual shifts available. 

He kōrero mōu | About You

It's desirable that you'll have a level 4 in Mental Health and Addiction but not essential. You'll need to be able to work independently in a community setting. You'll be a team player that demonstrates flexibility in your approach. Importantly, you'll have the ability to remain calm, practical and rational when in complex situations or incidents. In additional, you'll need:

  • A New Zealand Full Driver's Licence
  • Great time management and organisational skills
  • To be culturally respective and non-judgemental to support Tāngata Whaiora from a range of backgrounds
  • The ability to see potential in people and thrive in a challenging and ever-changing environment.
