Job Description

He kōrero mō te tūranga | The Role:

We are looking for that special person who is enthusiastic, and passionate about working in mental health. You'll manage crisis situations with ease and have no issue thinking off the mark. Your days will be spent supporting Whaiora, having fun and taking them out on activities. Computer skills are a must, as part of your role will require writing reports and conducting assessments.

This is a permanent full-time position based in Tauranga, working on a 24/7 rostered shift.

Your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Establish a rapport with clients/tangata whaiora and their whanau.
  • Provide day to day support in alignment with client/ tangata whaiora goals and support plans including risk management plans and Safety Plans.
  • Work with clients/ tangata whaiora to identify significant goals. Provide encouragement and support clients to achieve their goals.
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings, bringing ideas and updating others on their activities.
  • Ensure all incidents are documented appropriately.

We are looking for someone who is positive, flexible, vibrant, confident, and compassionate to work in our service. You'll use your non-judgmental attitude and belief to motivate and encourage whānau realise their potential. You'll have the ability to easily build professional relationships, while maintaining strong professional boundaries.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Level 4 - NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with mental health professionals and within our team.
  • Experience in the mental health sector.
  • Must be flexible to work around rostered shifts.
  • Demonstrated commitment to recovery values.
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Should be eligible to work in New Zealand.
  • A current full driver's licence.
