Job Description

The service and role

This is a fantastic opportunity to have a direct impact on the lives of rangatahi who are currently on community placement - this means rangatahi who are currently, or have been going through the court process.

In this role you will join a diverse team of residential staff to support rangatahi to engage and reconnect with their local community and cultural groups. You will walk alongside young people to overcome challenges they face in society, through the courts, police and their own personal trauma.

We aim to create healthy habits in order to help youth go on to achieve great things in the community as they journey into adulthood, becoming more aware of who they are. We prioritise empathy and understanding and provide support in self-care, awareness and advocacy.

We want to encourage our youth to learn, grow and live as independently as possible with the aim reducing the risk of re-offending. One on one or group activities, you will be maintaining professional boundaries, safety and consistency of practice for youth through honesty, integrity and a commitment to goals.

We have a number of roles available working full-time, part-time or casual. Please indicate your preference in your cover letter.

What you need:

  • Previous experience working with youth
  • It's essential that you have a full New Zealand driver's licence
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • Be culturally responsive and non-judgmental
  • See potential in people and thrive in a challenging and ever changing environment
  • Have strong professional boundaries
  • Have the ability to easily build professional relationships with our Rangatahi

What's in it for you?

  • Supportive manager, and teams who celebrate success, however little or large they may be
  • Learning, development and training opportunities
  • Fun events and activities with staff, rangatahi and whānau
  • Great staff benefits including free counselling
  • The opportunity to work in a culturally diverse, inclusive, respectful organisation where you can be yourself
