Te Whai Oranga “To pursue wellbeing”
(Support Worker)
Comcare is an established Mental Health and Housing provider assisting people with mental health or addiction issues to live well in the community. We provide a rich and diverse range of Mental Health Support Services, Housing and Housing Support Services.
In partnership with Te Whatu Ora Southern, Comcare is commencing services in Dunedin supporting people who need unique and tailored housing and support responses.
This is an exciting time to join our organisation and we are looking for a number of Te Whai Oranga (Support Workers) to join us.
About the role
The role of the Te Whai Oranga is to find positive creative solutions for people who have complex issues that create barriers for successful community living and supports them to problem solve a pathway forward to independent living.
The role assists people to access permanent housing, including ongoing assessment of health and welfare issues that are impacting on future tenancy sustainability and general wellbeing.
These are full time roles and planned to work through a roster pattern.
About you
Applicants for this role would ideally have sound knowledge of the Mental Health/Social Services support systems. You will also have a cultural awareness, knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to, the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
You will have strong problem solving skills and a positive approach along with a passion to help others. Flexible, adaptable, confident and able to make well considered decisions, you understand the need for strong professional boundaries and a good work ethic.
It is desirable to hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing - Level 4 (or a recognised equivalent) or be willing to undertake study towards this qualification with our support.
