MASH Trust is a non-government organisation and registered charity operating since 1989, when it was founded to provide accommodation and sheltered housing. Today, MASH provides a wide range of support services for approximately 1700 people with mental health conditions, disabilities, alcohol and addiction struggles, and youth support.  

Our services are offered in a number of settings including day programmes, support in people’s own homes, support within MASH homes, and support in the community. MASH operates throughout the lower North Island in Wellington, Kapiti, Horowhenua, Manawatū, and Hawkes Bay with over 500 staff and volunteers.

Job Description

Exciting Fixed Term opportunity working Monday to Friday as an Enabling Good Lives Support Worker based in Lower Hutt

We are looking for a passionate person to join our team, to support people in reaching their goals and getting involved in their community. We are a creative bunch who look at ways of tearing down barriers and creating a space where everyone feels part of a community. What we can offer you:
  • You will earn between $22.70 - 28.25 per hour, depending on your qualification

Your role will include planning and supporting people to participate in a meaningful way in the community by assisting in gaining and maintaining social, health, education, whanau and cultural connection. Previous professional experience in the intellectual disability field and knowledge of Enabling Good Live's Values is an advantage but not essential. The Hours: This position is 80 hours per fortnight Week 1 and 2 - Monday - Friday, 8am - 4.30pm, hours may be flexible for the right person
This position is fixed term from 01/12/2023 - 26/4/2024
You will need to have:
  • Experience engaging with or working with people with an intellectual disability or complex needs preferable
  • A relevant qualification or the willingness to work towards one 
  • A current full NZ driver’s licence and be able to drive both automatic and manual cars and vans
  • A passion for developing and expanding opportunities for service users
  • The ability to work in a team across a range of activity areas including assisting with personal cares
  • Good documentation skills and familiarity with a computer
