Job Description

He kōrero mō te tūranga | The Role

This role is based at a residential service in Blockhouse Bay. We work with Oranga Tamariki to provide accommodation and support to all rangatahi in need of a placement. Each rangatahi comes with their own story and ambitions. Our team has a common goal - to provide a safe environment where young people can realise their potential and empower them to make positive decisions for their lives.

We want to create a safe and homely environment for tamariki/rangatahi, where they can achieve their goals and live as independently as possible within the community. You and the team ensure whaiora feel cared for, proud, heard, and strong. Being a consistent support through the good times and the tough days, we steer the waka together and restore mana and safety. Focusing on strengths using proven strategies, whaiora will achieve their personal recovery goals.

Specific duties of the role could include:

  • Encouraging community engagement and activities
  • Participating in daily tasks such as planning, shopping, and cleaning
  • Confident advocating for whaiora at appointments
  • Championing best practices, and early interventions
  • Encourage whaiora to follow their programme
  • Providing medication support

The hours of work are rostered Monday to Sunday and shifts include 8.00 am to 4.30 pm, 4.00 pm to 12.30 am, and 12.00 am to 8.30 am.
