Qualification Overview
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the vision habilitation/rehabilitation sector with a specialised workforce focussed on the application of technical knowledge and skills in clinical and community settings.
Graduates of this qualification will lead and coordinate an individualised quality service for people who have a vision impairment, are blind, or are deafblind, to enable them to live safe, productive and interdependent lives.
The underpinning philosophy of the programme is to build a person-centred, thinking workforce. This programme is being developed in consultation with the sector and the content continues to be informed by client needs and sector developments.
Programme Delivery
The Orientation and Mobility programme is delivered through the workplace by the Blind Foundation with support from Careerforce.
Learning resources and assessments for this programme are only available through the training provider.
Programme Overview
This programme leads to the award of the New Zealand Diploma in Vision Habilitation Rehabilitation (Level 7) with specialist strands in Orientation and Mobility.

Graduates of the programme will be able to:
- Provide an orientation and mobility service to teach people who have a vision impairment, are blind, or are deafblind, to use their remaining senses to determine their position in space and to plan and negotiate safe and efficient travel.
