Do you require Cultural Competency?

Has your qualification been assessed as being equivalent to a New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing for Pay Equity Purposes, if you have provided evidence of your cultural competency, whereby graduates must consider, respect and honour the history of Māori as tangata whenua by embedding a commitment to bicultural principles?

If so, there are two ways you can achieve cultural competency.

Option One

Complete the assessments in the following unit standards:

  • (28989) Apply strategies to support cultural diversity and
  • (28543) Describe culturally safe Māori operating principles and values and their application in a health or wellbeing setting.

To do this you require a Standalone Training Agreement and an assessor (workplace or mobile).  Please discuss this with your employer.

Option Two
