He Kōrero Mō Te Tūranga | The Role

We are seeking a Permanent, Full-Time Mental Health Professional to join our Tumanako Me Whakapono residential service, based in Manukau.

This role sits within a 24-hour residential service and is worked Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, across rotating shifts of 7.00am – 3.30pm and 3.00pm – 11.30pm. Tumanako Me Whakapono provides a safe and supportive living environment for tāngata whaiora (clients), with a focus on recovery, stability, and meaningful engagement in daily life and the community.

As a Mental Health Professional, you will provide recovery‑focused, clinically informed support while working closely with tāngata whaiora, whānau, Support Workers, and a multidisciplinary team. The role includes both clinical oversight and hands‑on involvement within the residence and out in the community through everyday activities.

In this role, you will:

  • Build respectful relationships with tāngata whaiora and their whānau
  • Provide recovery‑oriented support aligned with individual goals
  • Support daily living skills and community participation
  • Contribute to assessments, care planning, risk management, and rehabilitation
  • Provide clinical guidance to Support Workers
  • Respond effectively to complex and high‑risk situations

He Kōrero Mōu | About You

You are a registered mental health professional who brings compassion, sound judgement, and a commitment to recovery-based practice. You value teamwork, cultural safety, and contributing positively to a residential service supporting people with complex needs.

You will bring:

  • Registration with a professional body covered by the HPCA Act, Social Worker Registration Act, or DAPAANZ
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. nursing, social work, occupational therapy, or similar)
  • Current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
  • Experience working in mental health, addiction, disability, or community-based support services
  • Confidence in assessment, risk management, and high-quality clinical documentation
  • Ability to coach and support others within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to culturally responsive, person-centred practice
  • Must hold and maintain First Aid certification including CPR (or be willing and able to complete this)
  • A full, clean NZ driver licence
