Gateway and Vocational Pathway Programme for secondary school students
We offer Year 11 to 13 students an opportunity to get a taste for the range of careers available in the health and wellbeing sectors. Our Vocational Pathways Advisors can support you and your students get started. Students can access their learning and assessments online or paper-based.
First Steps Gateway
First Steps Gateway programme allow students to get a taster for the range of careers out there.
Small Steps Gateway
Small Steps Gateway programme is designed to be just that, not too overwhelming but a step towards the right direction. We have different pathways available to students.
Full Vocational Pathways Award
The Full Vocational Pathway Award is suitable for students with a clearer idea of a career pathway. Gateway Coordinators and Careers Advisors can customise their students programmes to meet their students interests and ensure that they meet workplace employment requirements.
Our programmes will help your students gain the confidence to make informed decisions on their career pathways, and provide a smooth transition from school to work.
Options and fees

|Small Steps Gateway Package||Up to 12 credits||$225 (inc GST)|
|Full Vocational Pathways Package||Up to 23 credits||$450 (inc GST)|
Enrolment into qualification or unit standards selected.Includes the following:
- Assistance to find a suitable work placement where possible.
- Careerforce registered assessor fee to assess and report the unit standard(s) completion.
- Reporting to NZQA of unit standards achieved.
- Certificate from NZQA if a student completes a full New Zealand Certificate.

Gateway for tomorrows heroes – Options and Fees – This summary gives an outline of fees, packages and programmes, and gives details of the Small Steps Programme for students wanting a taste of working in a social and community environment.
Memorandum of Agreement – All schools are required to complete a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Careerforce prior to commencement of any programme. The MoA records each party’s obligations when placing a student into industry-based learning, including arrangements for assessment and reporting results to NZQA. Careerforce will assist to help find an industry placement if required but cannot guarantee placements.
