Job Description

He Kōrero Mō Te Tūranga | The Role

We are seeking a Casual Support Worker to join our Te Whare Kauri service in Papatoetoe, providing Housing and Recovery Services within a Level 4 residential setting with high needs and clinical oversight. This role involves supporting tāngata whaiora (people seeking wellness) across both daytime and awake night shifts in a 24/7 environment.

You will:

  • Build positive and trusting relationships with tāngata whaiora and their whānau
  • Support daily living activities and goal-focused recovery planning
  • Monitor wellbeing and report any concerns, incidents, or changes
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, clinical teams, and external providers
  • Maintain clear, accurate documentation and use client management systems effectively
  • Encourage community engagement and participation
  • Contribute to a safe, supportive, and recovery-focused environment

This is a casual position, so flexibility is essential. You must be able to work a variety of shifts including mornings, evenings, awake nights, weekends, and public holidays.

He Kōrero Mōu | About You

You are a reliable and positive team member who enjoys supporting people on their wellbeing journey. You bring experience in mental health and are confident working across a 24/7 roster.

You will bring:

  • Availability to work flexible shifts across a 24/7 roster
  • At least 2 years’ experience in mental health or a related sector
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to team culture
  • NZ Certificate in Health & Wellbeing Level 4 (or equivalent), or a commitment towards obtaining this within the required timeframe
  • Must hold and maintain First Aid certification including CPR (or be willing and able to complete this).
  • A full, clean NZ driver licence.
