MEDIA RELEASE 16 January 2025
Careerforce recently received the overall employer satisfaction result from its 2024 annual employer satisfaction survey. First run in 2017, and with overall satisfaction trending upwards since, this eighth annual survey achieved a record overall satisfaction score of 8 (out of 10). This follows on from record results in its 2023 annual survey.
Rod Bentham, Executive Director of Careerforce commented that “we earlier set a target of 7.5, and having surpassed this in 2023, we lifted the bar to 8. The last several years have been very challenging, operating in the backdrop of both Covid and the Reform of Vocational Education (RoVE). To achieve this record result is not only testament to our staff’s commitment to our employers and learners, but also a reflection of our relentless focus on maintaining business as usual, despite the operating environment.”
“Monitoring employer satisfaction is very important for us. We know that there is always room for improvement, and we know that our employers have choice in whether and how they develop their workforce. What this result emphasises, is that the current model of workplace-based training with employers is working for them.”
Careerforce works with thousands of employers across Aotearoa, including many national organisations, and support many more thousands of their staff to achieve what can be life changing qualifications, all achieved in the workplace. These staff support many of Aotearoa’s most vulnerable people and communities, and the quality of their training has a direct impact upon the quality of the critical care and support that they provide.
Careerforce, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2024, currently remains a business division of Te Pūkenga. However, with the disestablishment of Te Pūkenga, its future remains subject to further consultation across early 2025. Any subsequent organisational changes across work-based learning are not expected to take effect until 2026/2027.
Full survey results will be shared with employers later in 2025.
