Job Description

He kōrero mō te tūranga | The Role:

We are looking for a Casual Support Worker in a residential forensic step-down service in Central Whanganui.

This is a great opportunity to make a real difference, supporting people in our community to reconnect, grow, and live as independently as possible. You'll be part of our community residential service, working with clients who have high and complex needs.

We're looking for someone passionate about helping others succeed while also growing in their own development. You'll work closely with a dedicated team across clinical, residential, educational, and admin services. Regular supervision, debriefing, and training will be provided.

Key responsibilities include building strong rapport with tangata whaiora and their whānau, and supporting them with daily routines and personalised goals.

We currently have one casual position based in Whanganui, working on a 24/7 rotating roster, including sleepovers.

We're looking for a positive, compassionate, and confident team member who brings flexibility, vibrancy, and a non-judgemental attitude to support whānau in reaching their potential. You'll build strong professional relationships, maintain clear boundaries, and provide safe, effective medication support, with solid computer skills and a supportive approach.

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Level 4 Certificate in Health & Wellbeing 
  • Must hold and maintain First Aid certification including CPR (or be willing and able to complete this).
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Flexibility to work rostered shifts
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A recovery-focused mindset
  • Full NZ driver's licence and eligibility to work in NZ
