Job Description

He Kōrero Mō Te Tūranga | The Role

We are seeking a Full Time Permanent Support Worker to join our Community Living Support service based in Manukau. This community-based mental health service supports tāngata whaiora (people seeking wellness) with more intensive support needs to live well in their communities. A key focus of the role is supporting people to find, secure, and maintain suitable accommodation while working towards their recovery and wellbeing goals. This role is Monday to Friday.

You will:

  • Build positive and trusting relationships with tāngata whaiora and their whānau
  • Support people to identify, work towards, and achieve their recovery and wellbeing goals
  • Assist people to find, secure, and maintain stable accommodation
  • Support daily living skills, independence, and community participation
  • Monitor wellbeing and report any concerns, incidents, or changes appropriately
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, clinical teams, community agencies, and external providers
  • Maintain clear, accurate documentation and effectively use client management systems
  • Contribute to a safe, supportive, and recovery-focused environment

He Kōrero Mōu | About You

You are an enthusiastic and reliable professional who is passionate about supporting people with mental health needs to achieve positive outcomes. You enjoy working in the community, building strong relationships, and collaborating with others to support people on their wellbeing journey.

You will bring:

  • At least 2 years' experience in mental health, community support, housing, or a related social services sector
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills
  • The ability to work effectively with diverse communities, including Māori and Pasifika
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to positive team culture
  • Confidence using technology, databases, and client management systems
  • Knowledge of community resources and support networks
  • NZ Certificate in Health & Wellbeing Level 4 (or equivalent), or a commitment towards obtaining the relevant minimum qualification within the required timeframe
  • Must hold and maintain First Aid certification including CPR (or be willing and able to complete this).
  • A full, clean NZ driver licence.
