He Kōrero Mō Te Tūranga | The Role

We are seeking a Permanent, Full Time Residential Support Worker to join our Waimoko Service, a Dual Disability Service (DDS) based in Ranui. This service supports tāngata whaiora (people seeking wellness) with high and complex needs, including dual disability and behaviours that require specialist support.

You will work as part of a 24/7 roster, including awake night shifts, to provide consistent, person-centred support that promotes safety, wellbeing, and independence.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide day-to-day support in line with individual support plans, including managing complex behaviours
  • Support tāngata whaiora to develop daily living skills and achieve personal goals
  • Apply positive behaviour support approaches and contribute to risk management and safety plans
  • Build strong, respectful relationships with tāngata whaiora and their whānau
  • Work collaboratively with your team and external professionals to ensure integrated care
  • Monitor wellbeing and report/document incidents, risks, and progress accurately
  • Encourage participation in the community and celebrate individual achievements

He Kōrero Mōu | About You

You are an experienced and resilient support worker who brings a calm, considered approach to working with people with high and complex needs.

You will bring:

  • At least 2+ years’ experience as a Support Worker in a similar role working with dual disability
  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar role working with dual disability is preferred
  • Experience working with high and complex behaviours
  • Experience in dual disability and positive behaviour support
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships
  • The ability to remain calm and responsive in challenging situations
  • A genuine commitment to culturally responsive practice and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Must hold and maintain First Aid certification including CPR (or be willing and able to complete this)
  • A full, clean NZ driver licence
