MEDIA RELEASE
29 August 2024
Careerforce has today shared the record results of its most recent annual employer satisfaction survey, its seventh since commencing in 2017. As a longitudinal survey, the survey tracks overall satisfaction over time, but also satisfaction with its component parts. Each year, and reflecting a commitment to employers, the topline results are shared, together with a summary of themes emerging from the feedback, and most importantly, how Careerforce intends on responding to both the results and the themes.
Overall satisfaction results have been trending upwards since its inception, and with a record satisfaction result for this most recent survey. Careerforce also received a record participation rate, up 89% on the previous year.
According to Careerforce Executive Director, Rod Bentham, “This is an outstanding result on its own, but when you consider the backdrop in which Careerforce has been operating within the last 5 years, notably with the reforms of vocational education and Covid, it really is an exceptional result.”
Bentham also acknowledged the continued pressures facing many of the sectors that Careerforce supports over the same period, and applauded their continued commitment to developing their workforces. “We know there is always room for improvement, and the feedback that employers share via this survey is critical to us in identifying these opportunities. It is also evident from the record response rate from our employers, that they remain strongly engaged with Careerforce, and they want to help us to be better”.
Careerforce has been operating in an environment of uncertainty since the reforms of vocational education were first announced back in February 2019, but according to Bentham, “Our modus operandi throughout has been one of ‘business as usual’ and ensuring that our employers and learner activities are not disrupted. These results would indicate that we have been successful in this”.
Key results included:
- Record level of overall employer satisfaction of 7.6, trending upwards from 7.1 in the inaugural survey.
- Significant improvements in satisfaction between 2017 and 2023 across aged residential care, social services, home and community health, and hospital/GP services.
- Record level of 536 survey completions, up 89% on previous year.
- 90% of employers say that Careerforce programmes meet or exceed their organisations workforce development needs.
- 85% of employers expect their training needs to either increase or stay the same over the next year
Careerforce will be rolling out it eighth annual employer survey later in 2024.
