Careerforce launches refreshed Dementia Care Level 4 Programme built from sector feedback.
More than 70,000 New Zealanders are currently living with dementia, a number projected to nearly double by 2050. At the same time, the proportion of older adults in the population will continue to climb, putting pressure on aged care and support services nationwide. The demand for skilled aged care and community support workers continues to grow, and Careerforce is proud to support the sector as a trusted training partner.
To help meet this need, Careerforce has launched a refreshed Dementia Care (Limited Credit Programme) Level 4, developed directly from feedback provided by employers, assessors and learners working across the aged care, home, and community support services.
The updated programme strengthens the connection between learning and real-world practice, ensuring workers supporting people living with dementia are equipped with practical, relevant skills.
“Employers and learners told us they wanted clearer assessments, stronger alignment with day-to-day practice, and resources that are easier to use,” said Denise Williams, General Manager, Product, Quality Assurance and Innovation. “This refresh ensures dementia care training keeps pace with the realities of today’s workforce and the growing needs of New Zealanders.”
Careerforce supports employers nationwide to deliver workplace-based training, enabling staff to gain nationally recognised qualifications while on the job.
