A decision to have all employees with at least a Level 3 qualification, was made by the Chateau Village Nurse Manager, Rosemary Thomson and her board last year. That decision has born its fruit as they celebrated the success of their first set of graduates.

Chateau Village is a rural aged care facility based in Balclutha, South Otago which provides both hospital and rest home services.

“This was no easy feat, but once the decision was made it was all go. It’s a proud day for Chateau Village,” said Rosemary.

Careerforce worked with Chateau Village in developing training plans that best meet their organisational needs. “Implementing the process first time round was exciting and at times challenging but we got there,” she said.

Myrlene Wright, the main assessor at Chateau Village is excited about the next group of trainees who will be starting in October 2014. “Seeing the staff finally completing their training and standing up in front of their family and friends just blew me away. I’m so stoked,” she said during the graduation.

Challenges can certainly be surpassed as demonstrated by Chateau Village. As long as workplaces and Careerforce work hand in hand, outstanding success can be achieved.
