MASH Trust is a non-government organisation and registered charity operating since 1989, when it was founded to provide accommodation and sheltered housing. Today, MASH provides a wide range of support services for approximately 1700 people with mental health conditions, disabilities, alcohol and addiction struggles, and youth support.  

Our services are offered in a number of settings including day programmes, support in people’s own homes, support within MASH homes, and support in the community. MASH operates throughout the lower North Island in Wellington, Kapiti, Horowhenua, Manawatū, and Hawkes Bay with over 500 staff and volunteers.

Job Description

We have an opportunity to join our Palmerston North Mental Health team on a full time basis.

MASH Trust support people in their own homes, within MASH home and in the community. We operate throughout the lower North Island, in Wellington, Kapiti, Horowhenua, Manawatu and Hawkes Bay regions. 
With over 550 staff and volunteers, we work alongside the people we support to enable them to live fulfilling lives.

  • You will earn between $23.38 - 29.10 per hour, depending on your qualification

The Position: Full Time Pool Position 80 Hours per fortnight on a rotating roster.
  • Weekend availability is essential
As a Mental Health Support Worker working for MASH Trust, you will be joining a highly skilled and dedicated team supporting clients to maintain a high quality of life, within a quality home environment, and encouraging full participation in all aspects of community daily life to maximise independence.
 
You will have/be:
  • A relevant qualification and/or experience working within the Disability or Mental Heath or Aged care Sector
  • Hold a current full New Zealand drivers licence  as you will be required to drive a van as part of your day to day job
  • The ability to take pride in a healthy home environment – including assisting with cleaning, meal preparation and shopping.
  • Caring and kind in nature with integrity that can provide support to those from all walks of life.
  • Currently eligible to work in New Zealand
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Cooking skills and be able to follow a recipe
