There are plenty of organisations who offer learning support and resources for free. If you are having some challenges, it is absolutely fine to seek help.

Here are some organisations you can tap into.

  • For help with English language development for trainees with English as a second language:

English Language Partners (free tuition for permanent residents) https://www.englishlanguage.org.nz/

They have centres all over NZ.  Must have permanent residency for any government subsidised programme.

  • To build literacy and numeracy skills online in your own time, at your own pace:

You can now get apps for tablets and work offline to save data https://pathwaysawarua.com/apps

Rural Youth & Adult Literacy Trust

They offer free literacy tuition and lessons https://www.adultliteracy.ac.nz/

  • If you want a face-to-face literacy or numeracy tutor:

Literacy Aotearoa (free tuition for permanent residents) http://www.literacy.org.nz/who-we-are  0800 900 999.  They have pou pou (learning centres) all over the country.

Capital Training (free tuition for permanent residents)  http://www.capitaltraining.co.nz/   0508 422 748.  They have learning centres and contract tutors in many parts of the country.

Hagley Adult Literacy Centre https://www.hagley.school.nz/study-options/hagley-adult-literacy-centre/ Christchurch only.

They will work with you either in a workplace programme, or at their learning centre.  03 379 1916.
