Wellington private hospitals, Bowen and Wakefield have put all of their housekeeping staff through the New Zealand Certificate in Cleaning (Level 2), supported by Careerforce. Both hospitals have said that the results have been outstanding.
Clare Betty, Bowen’s support services manager, says that having all the cleaners working to a known standard, rather than individual ones, has made a powerful difference.
Sara Down is one of the Bowen household staff members. She has been a cleaner for more than 20 years, and she loved the training as it further endorsed and validated the importance of the work she is doing.
