Careerforce is undertaking a revision and rollover of unit standards in the Urban Pest Management domain.
During development of assessment resources for the reviewed standards, the industry representatives from the Pest Management Association of New Zealand (PMANZ) and Cleaning Systems Ltd concluded that the reference to The Control and Safe Use of Fumigants should be removed because urban pest management specialists are not required to use or be assessed against the use of fumigants.
The industry representatives also determined that an integrated pest management programme must include a chemical treatment and a recommendation for non-chemical procedures for pest management. The unit standards have been revised to address these recommendations.
