Do you have a Degree or Diploma in Nursing from the Philippines, India, South Africa, Australia or the United Kingdom?

Employees with a nursing qualification from one of these countries have equivalency to the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3) for pay equity purposes.

If your nursing qualification is from another country, please check if it has already been assessed for pay equity purposes.

To be considered as equivalent to the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Advanced Support) Level 4, you will need to meet Cultural Competency i.e the mandatory requirement whereby graduates must consider, respect and honour the history of Māori as tangata whenua by embedding a commitment to bicultural principles.

How to gain Cultural Competency

IMPORTANT – Cultural competency at Levels 3 & 4

If you have been given an assessment outcome of Level 4 with proof of cultural competency, this does not mean that the qualification is automatically equivalent to Level 3 without cultural competency unless specifically stated. Similarly, if you have been given an assessment outcome of Level 3, this does not mean it will increase to level 4 with proof of cultural competency unless specifically stated.
