Qualification and programme overview

This qualification is for experienced cleaners who want to gain general skills and knowledge to be able to deliver, guide and promote safe and high-quality cleaning services.

This pathway is for a general cleaner wanting to gain recognition for being able to work knowledgeably, safely and with limited supervision.

Graduates will be awarded the New Zealand Certificate in Cleaning (Level 3).

The programme includes developing and/or recognising the following competencies in your staff:

  • Carrying out generic cleaning duties autonomously and efficiently.
  • Maintaining hygiene and understanding sources of infection and contamination.
  • Applying an understanding of health and safety legislative requirements when responding to risks for themselves and others in the workplace, and for the general public.

The Careerforce New Zealand Certificate in Cleaning (Level 3) is for experienced cleaners working in commercial, residential, health and domestic situations who want to gain general skills and knowledge to be able to deliver, guide and promote safe and high-quality cleaning services.

Trainees gain their skills and knowledge through on-job learning. The core value of industry-based training is that it sets people up with the right experiences, skills and knowledge. Trainees can earn while they learn, gain nationally-recognised qualifications, will benefit by gaining recognition of transferable skills and knowledge that is valued across the health and wellbeing sector.
