Careerforce is reviewing 17 unit standards in the Health, Disability, and Aged Support subfield, ahead of its Standard Setting responsibilities transferring to the Toitū te Waiora / Community Health Education and Social Services Workforce Development Council.
The main changes made to unit standard credits, outcomes, or performance criteria include the following:
- The purpose statements were reformatted to include bullet points.
- Guidance information was updated.
– Assessment conditions – Evidence for the practical components of this unit standard must be gathered in a health or wellbeing setting.
– Assessment notes – Evidence generated for assessment against this standard must be in accordance with organisational policies and procedures. - The range statements were restructured to show the quantitative requirements first.
- The words ‘organisational policies and procedures’ were removed from the performance criteria where applicable as this is now covered by the Guidance Information.
- Some outcomes and performance criteria were changed from ‘Describe’ to ‘Demonstrate knowledge of’ or ‘Identify’ to allow for a broader range of assessment options and to aid in understanding.
- The language used in the outcomes and performance criteria was aligned with current protocols.
- The titles of unit standards 20826, 23451, 23452, 23685, 23686, 26979, 26982 and 28546 were changed to better reflect the purpose of the unit standards and to allow for more flexibility in the way learner competency can be assessed.
- The title of unit standard 28545 was changed to make it more technically correct.
- Based on industry feedback, the credit value of unit standard 23686 was increased to better reflect the training time required to complete the unit standard.
The last date for assessment for superseded versions of Category B unit standards is set as 31 December 2023.
If your organisation wishes to comment on the revised standards, please email your feedback to qualreview@careerforce.org.nz by the close of business on Wednesday 22 September 2021.
